The GRHS Boys XC team competed at the insanely competitive Seven Lakes Showcase this weekend. Varsity placed 17th out of 25 teams. Led by Junior Joshua Deleon, the boys kept consistent with a 1-5 split of 56 seconds. This was the first 5K of the season and the Longhorns started off much stronger than last year! Sophomore Emilio Armijo, juniors Dristin Amos and Ethan Spaulding, and Senior Romeo Rodriguez were all point contributors for the team.
The JV Boys, led by sophomore Nathan Difalco, also placed 17th. The duo of stellar sophomores Nathan Difalco and Trenton Welch, ran well together and both placed in the top half of the race. Gerald Anderson and Hayes Rorie also pushed through, along with Bruno Martinez to round out the point contributors.
On the Freshman team, William Haldeman continued his medal streak, placing 13th overall, with a great time of 11:41 for 2 miles. Wayland Hoffle and Luke Garcia battled together to push each other to a seasons best time, and dual sport athletes, Andres Lara and Geronimo Cardona finished their first race of the season.
The Longhorns continue their season next week in Brenham for the Hillacious 5K on one of the toughest courses in the state! Good luck Longhorns! We will be cheering for you!
